Welcome to Part 2! In our last blog post, what to do when you feel like giving up, we did an overview of the fact that we all go through moments where we feel like giving up on something. We covered 2 main insightful ideas we can apply when we feel like we feel like crying uncle.
In this article, we are going to look at the remaining 5 tips we can implement when we feel like giving up.
Let’s jump in!
1. Look at the reasons for wanting to give up
This could be as a result of fatigue, feeling inadequate, encountering obstacles and difficulties, opposition etc. It is important to figure out the real reason so that we can be able to address it specifically.
If it is fatigue taking some rest will help to re-energize and re-fire.
2. Picture what the end will look like if you do not give up
Keeping in mind the picture of how the end will look like will help us to keep moving on just like Jesus.
For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2)
3. Fight off every voice of frustration and fear
In the Psalms we see David getting to a point of giving up many times. During those moments he would fight of the feelings by speaking to himself.
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits (Psalms 103:1-2)
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance. (Psalms 42:5)
4. Recognize God’s Hand in the Trial or Testing
God is aware and has allowed whatever you are going through for a divine purpose. Even the righteous men in scripture went through difficult times. A good example is Job. That is why he can boldly say:
But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. (Job 23:10)
Hang on tight and do not give up in the midst of a trial.
5. Remember that God is always there for you
No matter how bad things may get, just remember that God will always be there for you. Cry out to Him and He will answer you.
I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear. But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, Nor His mercy from me! (Psalms 66:17-20)
I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. (Psalms 34:4)
