#14. Mary Magdalene
Like the Samaritan Woman, Mary Magdalene met with Jesus, and her life was never the same. She became a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus after their encounter, which is faith-inspiring.
After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out (Luke 8:1-2)
As the scripture shows above, Mary Magdalene was among the women who traveled with Jesus as He proclaimed the good news of the Kingdom of God.
There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome (Mark 15:40)
She also witnessed the Crucifixion of Jesus and was one of the first people to learn of his resurrection. The fact that she woke up very early while it was still dark to go to the tomb shows her continued devotion to Jesus.
Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. (John 20:1)
Even when the two disciples returned home after seeing the empty tomb, Mary remained outside the tomb crying.
Then the disciples went away again to their own homes. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. (John 20:10-11)
She got a supernatural experience of seeing two angels and then saw Jesus. Jesus appeared to her alone after his resurrection and instructed her to tell his disciples of his return.
Because of her deep faith in Jesus she was the first to see the risen Lord. Wow!
Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’ ”Mary Magdalene came and told the]disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her (John 20:17-18)
