Can we learn from children? Absolutely.

For instance, children are sincere, honest, open, and more. They never need to pretend or put on a mask to project themselves as someone they are not.

From this, adults can learn to have an authenticity that helps them become true to themselves and not compromise their beliefs and integrity for approval.

As Christians, there is a lot we can learn from children. Here are six things that Christians can learn from children:

1) Faith

In Matthew 18:3, Jesus says,

"Truly, I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

Usually, children have a simple and trusting faith unaffected by fears and doubt, which quickly happens to adults.

When you tell a child anything, the likelihood is that they will believe you because they trust you and will not easily doubt what you say.

As Christians, we can learn to have such faith and trust in God as children do. We can know that God is trustworthy and that we can believe his Words and promises without doubting His Word and goodness.

2) Humility

Children are quick to apologize when they wrong someone. So, they are not always caught up in being proud and bitter.

The Bible in the James 4:10 admonishes us to,

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up"

As Christians, we can learn to be humble like children by admitting it when we make mistakes, asking for forgiveness, and treating others with kindness and respect.

Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me (Matthew 18:2-6)

3) Joy

Children easily find delight in life's simple pleasures, such as playing, exploring, and discovering new things.

The reason is that children have a natural capacity for joy.

Believers can learn to embrace the joy of the Lord and spend time with God in His presence, His creation, and His blessings from children.

4) Forgiveness

Children quickly forget what has happened or has been done to them. So, they quickly forgive and forget and will not hold grudges or harbor resentment.

As Christians, we can learn to forgive as quickly and extend mercy and grace to others as children do. That way, we can let go of any offense, anger, and anger bitterness that may come our way — which is the will of God.

5) Love

When it comes to love, children are not picky. They will love other children and only think about playing together.

Typically, they maintain a pure and unconditional love for all and freely express love and kindness.

Jesus commanded us to love one another even as He loves us. And this is something that children do so well.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” ( John 13:34-35)

Believers in Christ can learn to love like children do, love God and love others.

6) Persistence

Have you ever seen a child trying (or teaching themseves) to walk?

They keep at it without giving up. Eventually, they learn how to walk confidently.

This is an essential lesson for life we can learn from children.

We do not need to give up just because we have failed the first few times. Whether it is about our life purpose or personal goals. Instead, we need to persist until we achieve what is necessary.

By imitating these childlike qualities, Christians can grow closer to God and live more fulfilling lives for His glory.
