Trusting God
Trust is nurtured through constant demonstrations of reliability and honesty. As such, building trust is a slow and steady process that requires consistent time and effort.
While navigating human trust can be challenging, there’s no going wrong with putting faith and trust in God. As the new year unfolds, let's delve into 5 key reasons why placing our trust in God is a powerful choice.
1) God knows and calls you by name
Here’s what the Bible says in Isaiah 43:1,
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
It’s so comforting to know that God knew us before we were formed in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5)
God formed you, and you belong to Him—a powerful enough reason to trust in Him.
2) God is faithful
While humankind may not always be true, it is not the case with God.
God is faithful to His Word and promises. Thus, He can be trusted.
Even when men are unfaithful, God remains faithful.
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself (2Tim 2:13)
The faithfulness of God endures from one generation to another (Psalms 119:90)
It’s written in Numbers 23:19,
God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
3) He’s always with you
God will never leave, forsake, or abandon you. You can rest assured that while man can forsake you, God is always there, with and for you.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave or forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (Deuteronomy 31:8)
…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
He has promised, and He fulfills all His promises. If He said, He’ll never leave you, you can trust that He’s there to stay till the end.
4) God has a plan for you
Whether you have made plans or not, you can be assured that God has good ground plans for you this year.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11)
God is wise and sees the big picture from start to finish. You can be limited but God is NOT. He knows both the present and the future. He also knows every detail in all situations and how to work everything out for your good this year. You can trust Him.
5) He will fight for you
God has promised that you won’t be doing life alone. When battles face you, He has promised to fight them for you.
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace (Exodus 14:14)
The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes… (Deuteronomy 1:30)
Nothing is more comforting than knowing someone always has your back and is for your good. You can trust that will go before you and will always be your rear guard.
