Embrace Hope

Life can seem stuck and hopeless in times of despair. Our strength and capacity to rise above despair are tested in such moments.

This blog article explores the transformative power of hope and resilience. We uncover ways to overcome bleakness when it hits, become hopeful, emerge stronger and illuminate the path toward a brighter tomorrow.

Let’s get started.

#1. Find Hope in God

When things and situations feel hopeless, remember that God is our hope.

At one point, David felt hopeless and downcast. He wrote in a Psalm.

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me    Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him. For the help of His countenance (Psalms 42:5)

In the verse above, you can see how David encourages himself to put his hope in God.

We can learn from the verse and remember to rely on and put our hope in God when feeling downcast.

Find rest, o my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him (Psalms 62:5)

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God (Psalms 146: 5)

Our hope comes from Him.

#2. Find Hope in Prayer

God is aware of any feelings of hopelessness that we may feel. But He invites us to take everything to Him in prayer. He wants you to talk to Him about those feelings.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6)

Don’t hesitate to pray to God and ask Him to give you hope when you feel hopeless.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, continue steadfastly in prayer (Romans 12:12)

Pray for perseverance to endure the hopeless situation and deliverance from the despair.

#3. Find Hope in God’s Word

The Bible is full of hope for the believer. Many scriptures confirm that we get hope through the Word.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God says,

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I do hope (Psalms 130:5)

To find hope, read the Bible regularly. Doing so means you are choosing to hope over despair.

#4. Find Hope in God’s Strength and Power

We overcome despair when we reflect and focus on God’s power—the exceeding greatness of God’s power! Always remember that God is above all. In the same way God got people out of desperate situations in the Bible, He can lift you from any gloomy situation when you believe and trust Him.

…and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (Ephesians 1:19)

Remember the story of the woman who had a bleeding condition, and the issue had continued for twelve years? Despite enduring this devastating condition for more than a decade, the woman was resilient, refused to succumb to hopelessness and instead held onto the faith that healing was possible.

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole (Matthew 9:20-21)

Her relentless pursuit of belief, hope, and faith led her to seek out the power of Jesus, whom she believed could heal her, and it came to pass.

Likewise, in our lives, hope and miracles emerge through faith in God's power.
